KENDAL Mountain Rescue Team were hampered by an incoming storm as they attempted to aid a dog that had become trapped on high ground north of the town.
Just before 4 pm on Tuesday, the team was called by Cumbria Police, who had received reports of a dog in distress on Rainsbarrow Crag in Kentmere.
The team arrived at the reservoir cottages and soon had sight of the dog, high up on very steep ground.
They managed to get within 10 feet of the dog but the ledge he was on was inaccessible.
The team posted on Facebook: "At this point the rain came, accompanied by thunder and lightning and the team had to withdraw down the slope.
"Fortunately the owners had arrived and using whistles and calls enticed the dog down.
"The dog, a trail hound named Driver, was OK and very pleased to reunite with his owners."
