MORE than 20 years after his last shave, an Eden teacher has sacrificed his beard for the benefit of his students.
Appleby Grammar School's Peter Rose, 41, put himself forward for the barber's chair to help pupils at the school raise hundreds of pounds for a trip to South Africa in July.
The physics teacher, who was a student himself when he last shaved in 1986, was shorn by year 10 pupil, Emily Lane - one of 18 pupils from the year group that will be visiting three schools in the Durban area.
The fundraiser, which raised £400 in donations from pupils and teachers who gathered to watch, is the latest in a long line and Mr Rose said he was happy to take part.
