A CONISTON butcher has made the shortlist for this year's Great British Food Awards after months of rigorous testing.
Heritage Meats, Yew Tree Farm, in Coniston, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the lamb and game categories with three of their products - Shoulder of Herdwick Hogget, Lamb Leg Steaks, and its Diced Game Mix.
The shortlisted products are currently on their way to be judged by a panel of celebrity chefs, writers, influencers, and buyers.
The winning product as well as two finalists in each category are then sent to each category’s expert judge, who will then pick the overall winner prior to the regional and national winners and runners-up being announced on October 28, in the winter issue of Great British Food Magazine.
The Great British Food Awards were launched in 2014 to celebrate the very best artisanal produce in the food and drink industry.
