AN ambitious fusion of cuisines will diversify a town's leisure offering after a restaurant opened promising a range of 'Asian' dishes.

The new eatery, which goes by the name of 'Wasabi Pan Asian' on Facebook but just 'Wasabi.' on the shop front, has opened on Ulverston's Cavendish Street, in view of The Coro theatre.

It has been welcomed by residents and town business leaders alike, excited by the prospect of a more exotic food offering just seconds from The Coro and minutes from The Roxy leisure establishments.

Featuring a range of tapas-style 'small plates', including chicken satay skewers, korean fried chicken, chargrilled cauliflower steak with peanut sauce, as well as traditional mains such as thai green and chicken katsu curries, the restaurant will serve a different niche to many of Ulverston's current crop of dining establishments.

Whether it is sushi and gyoza or elegant cocktails that you are fancying, the new restaurant will cater to a different niche than other Ulverston restaurants, boosting its growing food appeal.

The Chair of Ulverston's Business Improvement District, Michelle Scrogham, says that diners are already highly impressed by the food offering at the new establishment and that it is has been a welcome new addition to Ulverston.

She said: "We’re lucky to have such a vibrant mix of restaurants and bars in Ulverston and Wasabi is another welcome addition to the town.

"The night time economy plays a vital role in making the whole area a success and Ulverston BID works to ensure the Town is marketed locally and nationally across all social media platforms to promote it. Details can be found on our dedicated website www.chooseulverston.co.uk.

"I’ve already heard good reports about Wasabi and the social media images of the food and cocktails look wonderful, so I’m really looking forward to sampling the menu shortly."

Bookings for the restaurant opened on Monday, August 15 for a mid-week opening day, while the restaurant is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 5.30pm to 9.00pm.

Customers on social media have already sung the restaurant's praises, calling it a 'great experience' with 'superb' cocktails and 'knowledgable and attentive' staff, while others have discussed their excitement to try the new establishment for themselves.
