OVER 300 workers at Ulverston's Glaxosmithkline manufacturing plant have today been told that they could lose their jobs.
The proposal which the company says is "essential" to ensuring the long-term future of the site will see the manufacture of certain intermediate stages of production carried out by third parties and will involve the loss of 330 jobs from the plant's current workforce of 537.
A GSK spokesman said the scaling down of operations was due to rising site costs and decreasing competitiveness.
