RESIDENTS of Kendal want to see more clothes shops in the town.
Kendalians have had their say on what they would like to see in the town’s high street, with calls for more clothes shops including HM, the return of New Look and shops for menswear.
People also want to see more activity-based businesses in the town, such as crazy golf.

The high street is undergoing several changes, with Spinning Jennies working to transform the former Beales department store on Finkle Street, British Red Cross moving into the former Phase Eight and a new fish and chip shop at the top of Finkle Street.

Kendal College is also turning the top floor of The Westmorland Shopping Centre into a third campus, which is expected to open to students in September.
South Lakeland District Council recently put forward a bid for £10million of government funding to transform Kendal.

And plans are also underway to improve Stramongate.
However, there are still several empty units including Savers, the former Neon Sheep and Burton.

Hilary Brown said: “Indoor crazy golf for wet days! Also, some towns have table tennis in empty shop units for a free activity. That would be good.”
Mary Seed said: “All my favourite shops have gone. There's no good clothes shops left.”
Kelvin Taylor said: “Maybe more shops would want to be in Kendal but what they get charged for renting them is ridiculous there is nothing in Kendal, especially for the kids to do.
“It’s a shame as it was such a busy place lots of shops and pubs but for some reason most of places have turned into retirement homes just what Kendal needs (not).”
Julie Marie Stuart said: “I love Christmas and More.”
“We need some decent clothing shop especially for men.”
Mags Hall said: “Definitely need more clothes shops. A mix of local and high street. Bring Woolies back.”
Sunshine On Leith said: “Mostly coffee shops, hair dressers charity shops.”
Hayley Lord said: “Happy Feet shoe shop is fab and Armstrong Ward gorgeous gifts.”
Louise Duncan said: “More clothes shops, HM, New Look back again.”
Doreen McCool said: “Small independent clothes shops. Kendal used to have many small shops like these. Also, let’s hope Superdrug move into somewhere else in Kendal.”
Kendal Furniture and more said: “Far too expensive to rent or lease in Kendal.”
June Butterfield said: “Kendal is the only town that still has shops.”
Mary Seed said: “There's no good clothes shops left.”
Alfie Tallon said: “Something for kids to do either indoor for bad weathers or outdoor for good weather might help with all the young one getting into trouble because there is nothing for them.”
