THE latest supermarket chain to arrive in Kendal has provided an update on when it plans to occupy its chosen site.
Lidl is taking over the Homebase store, situated on Beezon Road, which is due to close on August 14.
A spokesman for Lidl Great Britain has confirmed: "We are committed to bringing a new Lidl store to Kendal, Cumbria, and are due to begin our works this Autumn.
"We look forward to sharing more information with the local community nearer the time and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support so far as we progress with the store."
Planning permission for 'refurbishment and external alterations to the existing store and other associated works to provide a discount food store' was granted in 2020, and an alcohol license application was submitted in June 2022, shortly after Homebase announced its imminent closure.
