A PETITION opposing the closure of a high street bank branch in Carnforth is nearing 700 signatures.
The campaign was launched after it was announced that Market Street's Barclays Bank would be closing despite strong opposition from the council.
The bank is planned to be closed on October 13 after an announcement made by Barclays citing a 'sustained fall' in visits to the branch was the cause of the decision.
The closure of the branch would mean the town's nearest branch would be located in Lancaster.
