A LAKE District visitor attraction is this year a-mazing families with its Jubilee theme.
The Lakeland Maze Park, a family farm attraction located in Sedgwick near Kendal, will be thrilling visitors from Saturday, July 23, when its annual maze is unveiled.
This year, it has gone all out to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne, by incorporating a royal theme into the pattern cut out of the 6-8-foot-high maize crop.
When viewed from above, a postage stamp-style image of the Queen’s head is clearly visible over the eight acres taken up by the incredible maze. Further viewing will detect the nearby mini-maze, where a trusted pal for the Queen has been placed, in the form of a royal Corgi.
“We felt it only right to do our bit to celebrate the Jubilee, even though we knew our crop would only be ready for cutting out now, in mid-July,” says owner, Graham Wadsworth.
“The image looks fantastic from above and we hope that many families will enjoy exploring the royal-themed maze this year, literally getting inside the Queen’s head.”
Further investment has also taken place at the farm attraction with the introduction of the UK’s first Maize Quest Super Mega Ride n Slide, offering children the opportunity to whiz down a 150-foot-long slide in an inflatable ring.
Graham said: “The minute we became aware of this super-sized slide, we just knew we had to bring it to the Lake District.
“Everyone loves a slide and this is slide to beat all others. We can’t wait to see the excitement when kids grab their inflatable and try it out.”
With a doubling in size of indoor soft play areas, two Air Bouncers, a fire engine on which to act out firefighter dreams, outdoor and indoor go-karts, coin-operated quad bikes, giant draughts, bouncy castle, indoor panel maze, climbing wall, playground and more, there’s masses to do, even before you reach the animal barn.
Admission price of £10.95 for adults, £9.95 for kids (2-15 years) and £7.45 for seniors. On-the-door prices are £1 extra for each ticket. Both allow for a full day’s fun, with tons of value to be extracted from a ticket.
