A RARE piece of transport heritage has been returned to its rightful place atop a pass near Grasmere.
The Grade II Listed Automobile Association Sentry Box 487 was damaged by extreme winds on January 29 this year after standing for 90 years.
It was the only one left of 18 that were installed in Cumbria to provide emergency shelter and provisions for many stricken motorists in the past.

Throughout the UK, there are 19 remaining of around 800 installed between 1912 and 1953.
AA spokesman Tony Rich said: "The maintenance team took it away at the time and restored it, painted it up and put it back where it should be.
"While we do think of the future, and of electric vehicles, and preparing for net-zero by 2035, we do still look after our heritage.
"There's nothing operational now, but you can still go in there - it's still there if anybody gets stuck in a storm."
