AN APPLICATION for consent to display advertisements at a prospective new supermarket in Kendal has been submitted to South Lakeland District Council.
Lidl is seeking permission for a column-mounted sign, a flagpole sign and a wall-mounted sign.
The supermarket is to move into the Beezon Road site currently occupied by Homebase.
The column-mounted, illuminated sign would be 2.5m by 2.5m in size. The flagpole sign would be 2.1m by 6m in size, and the wall-mounted sign would be 2.1m by 3.3m in size.

It is understood Homebase is to close on August 14.
Planning permission for 'refurbishment and external alterations to the existing store and other associated works to provide a discount food store' was granted in 2020.
The matter apparently lay dormant until May of this year, when Homebase announced it would be closing its Kendal store.
Lidl then submitted applications for the site in relation to biodiversity, external lighting and refuse and recycling. The company has also submitted an application for a premises licence.
