60 Kendal Tennis players took part in a 24 hour event to raise funds for a South Cumbrian charity.
Members of the Kendal Tennis Club played the full days worth during the middle weekend of this year’s Wimbledon championships to raise much needed funds.
The club held a charity 24-hour tennis marathon over the weekend of July 2 and 3 to raise funds for Carer Support South Lakes.
The non-stop tennis action involved players from the youngest juniors, aged from four upwards, to the best first team players, to some of the club’s longstanding veteran tennis aces who are well into their 70s.
To help the club make it through all 24 hours there was a social tournament, a BBQ kindly supported by local Savin Hill Farm and Plumgarths Farm Shop, strawberries and cream, many cakes, junior games and activities, competitions for the fastest and slowest serve, a Spot the Ball competition.
Kendal Tennis Club also hosts the fast-growing sport of Pickleball and our Pickleball members were in the thick of the action too, doing their bit for the charity.
Many local companies made kind donations of prizes to the event’s raffle including gym membership, afternoon tea in a Lake District hotel and luxury electric boat hire on Windermere.
Play started at 3.00pm on July 2, last rally finished at 3.00pm on July 3.
