FIREFIGHTERS proved they do not just fight fires after a large animal rescue today.
Crew members from Appleby fire station were called to the aid of a cow stuck in a cattle grid this morning.
The team, alongside the farmer and a vet, was able to free the animal.
An Appleby fire station spokesman said: “This morning Appleby firefighters, were called to re-moove a cow that had fallen and become stuck in a cattle grid at a local farm.
“Crews worked together with the farmer and vet to rescue the cow safely.”
