A RESIDENT from Burneside has worked to provide comfort and support to members of her community after flowers were removed from their local church yard.
Rosie McNamana, who has lived in the community for thirteen years, has been helping provide artificial flowers for the Burneside residents who had had their flowers and ornaments removed from the graves of their loved ones.
After seeing the upset the removal of the flowers had caused, the mother of five worked with members of the Residents Association and others within the community to support those affected.
Rosie said: “It’s really important to me that people are able to have their loved ones resting places how they want it.
“People are still hurting and that’s not disappearing. We’re trying to help people as much as we can.
“I have a few artificial flowers ready to go at the moment, and my responsibility in my opinion is for the poor people that are having to look at their loved ones resting place and having them look uncared for, I wanted to help them have a little bit of peace.
“A lot of people weren’t able to get there own artificial flowers or have the funds spare to buy them. Times are very hard for people, especially those with families and kids.
“We have a bunch of twelve little posies which doesn’t sound like a great deal but we aren’t made of money.
“People are worried about spending money on flowers when they think they will not be able to stay in the churchyard for long.
"So much is being done by Gayle, Jenny, Jill and Derek through this whole thing as well."
Rosie’s husband Ryan spoke of the support his wife had given the community.
He said: “I’m really proud of her. She’s got a big life style and she’s running the whole house. Even with my help its all a big challenge but she does all of it.
“She whips us all into shape around the house and she is very people orientated.
“She has taken all these things under her wing and when she sees people in need, she can’t stop herself from helping.
“We’re so incredibly proud and so are the kids. They think mum is a super star.”
