A two-day charity golf event is being held in memory of a much-loved young Kendal man who died of cancer last year.
Kendal Golf Club is hosting the event on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3, in memory of Daniel Bescoby, a popular club member who died aged 27 in July 2021.
Proceeds will go to the Christie Hospital in Manchester, a specialist cancer hospital, for which his parents, Claire and Tim Bescoby, have already led a campaign which has raised more than £55,000.
The event was originally planned to have Daniel taking part last year, as Claire, who owns 16 The Salon in Kendal, and has raised money for various charities in the past, explained.
"We started the fundraising last year for the Christie," she said.

"Daniel died five days before the golf day was due to happen last year and he was very involved in it - the Justgiving page, he'd done the online auction and dealt with the e-mails, so that was keeping him going - he was determined to get there, but sadly he couldn't, so we've rolled it on to this year.
"He was waiting to get T-cell therapy which can be life-changing, but he was just too ill, it had spread and he passed away on July 27.
"Dan was was the fittest lad you'd ever meet, a healthy eater.
"He was doing the 5k challenges in lockdown with his mates. He'd done a sub-20-minute 5k and then the week after he couldn't run a mile so he ended up going to the doctors after a couple of weeks.
"They did blood tests and sent him straight to Manchester Royal Infirmary and he didn't tell us for two days that he'd been in.
"His blood levels were on the floor and they didn't know how he was managing to cope.
"On June 8, 2020 we found out he had cancer and then he was admitted to the Christie for six weeks in obviously the worst time in lockdown so nobody could see him for a month.
"He had rounds of chemo and three times it came back and he had the tumour taken out of his chest last May - basically it was gone.
"It came back and it went again, and came back again so he had lots of rounds of chemo - every time he went back to running, back on the bike, golfing, and then the last time we found out was on June 19 last year, and he died on July 27.
"Local businesses and friends have donated fantastic raffle prizes, auction items, and people have been donating on JustGiving during Covid - people's generosity has been overwhelming.
"We're having a prizegiving on the Friday night after the golf.
"We're going to shut the JustGiving page down on the 8th of June, which is obviously a very poignant day as that was the date that we first found out Dan had cancer, so they can get the money.
"I'm then going to set another one up for everybody fundraising in Dan's name.
"Dan was just the nicest lad you'd ever meet and everyone loved him - he worked at the golf club and was junior captain twice.
"It was basically his second home so that's why we wanted to do something there."
Greg Dixon, who has organised the event, said: "I played a lot of golf with Danny, we were good mates, even though I'm just about old enough to be his grandfather.

"The plan originally was that he was going to take part, and he was going to survive, everything was going to be wonderful, and we'd still raise money for the Christie.
"As it happened, it's now in his memory.
"The Friday was booked up last year - there are a few gaps on the Thursday in the morning if anybody wanted to come and play.
"We've got over 200 playing on Friday and 110 on Thursday.
"We've had people donate prosecco, beer, and food for the halfway house refreshments on the course - all of these things raise money, which is great."
