The Scarecrow Festival and Church Exhibition in Orton will return from Saturday 28th May to Sunday 5th June.

This year's festival is based on The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The theme will be "Jubilant 50s" and it will be hosted in All Saints' Church.

Helen Wearmouth, an organiser for the event, said: "A Street Party with about 40 Scarecrow guests seemed ideal for the Jubilant 50s theme.

We're busy sewing a huge range of cakes - the target is to make 200 if we can - and ensuring that every Scarecrow is well dressed for the occasion." The Westmorland Gazette:

The festival will feature figures representing HM The Queen, the Archbishop of Canterbury and other Royal guests.

Church Warden Chris Bland said: "We hope visitors will enjoy both the formality of the great occasion and the fun and laughter of the street party."

Refreshments will be served in All Saints' Church each day, with proceeds going to the Church. Maps of the scarecrow trail will be available in the Church and from Orton Village Store.
