Police have warned drivers to be on their guard after diesel was ‘siphoned’ from a HGV last month.
Cumbria Police reported that overnight between April 7 and April 8, diesel was siphoned from a HGV on the outskirts of Burton-in-Kendal.
A force spokesman said: “Since the reform of red diesel and the increase in fuel prices, there is the potential that we may see an increase in fuel thefts.
“Please take any steps you can to deter thieves including surveillance, smart water, lighting and increasing perimeter security.
“If you have any information about the theft of diesel from a HGV in the Burton area (April 7 to 8), please call 101, quoting log number 23 of April 8.”
