A POPULAR arts centre is celebrating its 50th birthday by announcing a 12-month programme full of 'stellar' performances.
Since 1972 The Brewery Arts Centre has been bringing the world to Kendal through events and activities for all ages.
To kick off celebrations The Brewery Arts hosted a brunch for staff and volunteers who do a 'phenomenal job' ensuring the Brewery Arts 'continue being one of the UK’s liveliest arts centres'.
CEO & Artistic Director Miriam Randall said: "This is quite the milestone. We have had lots of closures with Covid in the last couple of years so it is just brilliant to be back on track now and we have a really busy programme across the next 12 months."
The 12-month program called #BreweryArts50 is a celebration from June 2022 until May 2023, with three seasons of headline shows by international artists including renowned acts such as Joan As Police Woman and This Is The Kit.
Miriam said: “The past two years have been unlike any other but thanks to the support of our community and the hard work of our incredible team, we are looking to a bright future.

"We’ve been busy developing our venue, booking exciting new events and building our team back. We’re looking forward to celebrating with everyone in Kendal and beyond – everyone is welcome.”
The celebrations will see the world premiere of Hold Tight by Vincent Dance Theatre and Flight by Propellor.
The celebrations kick off this summer with a season of free outdoor music, family activities, DJ events and a creative summer camp.
There will be open days and giveaways across the year and the programme will end with a big finale in May 2023. A key highlight will be a night curated by Pete Turner of Elbow, with special guests to be announced.
