KENDAL Town Football Club will be hosting a special memorial match in honour of Gary Parkinson.
The match will be held between Castle Rangers and North West Water this Sunday awith a 2pm kick-off.
Mr Parkinson, who worked and co-owned Hayes and Parkinson Funeral directors for over 56 years, was a former footballer who played and Captained Castle Rangers for over twenty-five years.
He was a well liked and respected member of the community and was part of three generations of the Parkinson Family to have also played for Castle Rangers - with Danny Parkinson the latest in a long line to be involved.
The game between two of the arch-rivals of the local Sunday League is a fitting tribute for Mr Parkinson, where both teams will be competing for the Gary Parkinson Memorial Trophy which was donated by Gary himself.
Entry for the game is free and all donations made for the day will go towards the British Heart Foundation.
