IF YOU are looking for some plans to keep entertained over the next week, look no further as we have rounded up the events taking place across South Lakeland.
1. Comedy Club
On Friday, May 13 head down to the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal for the comedy club. This months club features comedy from Mike Milligan, Nicola Mantalios as ‘Zoe’, Sian Davies and Mike Cox.
Doors open at 7pm with the show starting at 8pm. Tickets are currently on sale for £15.40.
2. Vortice Dance Company: Dracula
On Sunday, May 15 head down to The Coro to sink your teeth into the legends of the Prince of Darkness in this contemporary ballet performance.
Bringing the Lord of the Undead to life is one of Portugal’s top dance companies.
The performance starts at 7:30pm, finishing at 8:30pm. Standard tickets cost £22,00 and concession tickets cost £18.70.
3. Notchyy & Friends
A year on from his first release Follow Waves, As featured on BBC Radio 1’s Friday night dance show w/Pete Tong and Sian Eleri’s Chillest Show, Notchyy returns to Kendal for his first headline show!
Accompanied by some of Manchester's finest, Joe G and Adhoc Dave, Notchyy & Friends promises a night brimming with some of the finest deep houses alongside some upcoming Notchyy originals.
The event starts at 8pm on Saturday, May 14 and ends at 2am.
The event takes place on Saturday, May 14 and tickets are £8.50.
4. Karine Polwart & Dave Milligan
Head down the Brewery Arts Centre for the seven-time winner at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Karine Polwart's latest project is a collaboration with renowned jazz/folk pianist Dave Milligan.
The performance will be on Saturday, May 14 and starts at 8pm and tickets cost £20.50.
5. Street Market
This Saturday, you can head down to the Ulverston street market and grab yourself some bargains and support independent local businesses. The market takes place every Thursday and Saturday.
6. Lake District Photography Workshop
On Saturday, May 14 join the Lake District Photography Workshop team and photograph the stunning scenery around Coniston Water and Tarn Hows.
The day will start at 9:30am and last five hours and will include a break for lunch which you have to provide yourself.
Tickets cost £80 =in the event of the minimum number of participants not being reached (2) an alternative date or a refund will be offered.
7. South Lakeland Zoo entry
Over the weekend head down to South Lakeland Zoo. The Zoo is home to over 1,000 of the rarest and most endangered animals in unique natural environments which enable you to learn about the animals on show.
Tickets for adults are £19.99, children go for £15.99 and under-fives go free.
8. Kendal Museum Entry
Tickets are now available for Kendal Museum Entry at Kendal Museum, Kendal on Saturday, April 30 between 9:30 - 4:30pm.
Tickets are £5 for adults £2 for 5-18-year-olds and under-fives go free. If you are thinking of visiting as a group, or if you are an official group organiser, give the museum a call, or send them an email to discuss your visit.
9. Betty’s Back!: The work of James and Betty Durden
On Saturday, May 15 head down to Betty's Back, Sation Road Keswick for a 1920's extravaganza, centred around the return of the star painting 'Betty' by James Durden.
The painting is the largest in the Museum’s collection at six foot tall, and has been away for conservation reasons.
The Museum will be displaying its complete James Durden collection, and the exhibition will feature loans from private collections.
10. Lost in Cumbria
Watch Blackwell come alive with creatures great and small! Maddy Humberstone’s Lost in Cumbria gives us a glimpse of the endangered and extinct species we could be living alongside.
With a dress by internationally renowned designer Deborah Milner and pieces made alongside local community groups and St George’s Primary School, this installation is a nod to the Arts and Crafts Movement’s philosophy to return to nature.
The event takes place at Blackwell, The Art's & Crafts House in Bowness-on-Windermere on Saturday, May 14.
