THE MAYOR of Windermere and Bowness has marked the completion of his year in office.
The day was marked by the Council’s Annual General Meeting on May 4 as Adrian Legge reflected back on the year he had spent as Mayor.
He has been succeeded by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Kate Tripp.
Councillor Legge said it was a great honour and privilege to serve as the town’s Mayor.
A former Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander and Falklands War veteran, he said that having worked closely with Councillor Tripp during a very busy year he is confident that she is the ideal person to succeed him as Mayor.
Councillor Tripp, who is Events Manager at the Brathay Trust, is also a retired Armed Forces officer, having served as a Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force where she was a Training and Education officer.
Councillor Leith Hallatsch, a former Mayor, returns to the front bench to become Deputy Mayor.
Windermere and Bowness Town Council operates on a non-political basis and comprises up to twenty councillors, all unpaid volunteers who serve on a wide variety of committees appropriate to their own interests, skills and experience.
