The Wooden Boat Gathering is organised by The Wooden Boat Trade Association and hosted by the award-winning Windermere Jetty Museum.
The Wooden Boat Gathering theme is ‘Ensuring the future for boats made of wood’.
The group will welcome four eminent speakers offering a varied programme of talks on Saturday and Sunday.
Andrew Wolstenholme will talk about his approach to modern design techniques; Iain (Tolly) Tolhurst will tell his story of building ‘Naida’ from locally sourced timber; Stephen Beresford will describe the Museum’s fascinating collection of boats, and the conservation programme and Iain Oughtred will speak about his long and successful career as one of the most highly-regarded small boat designers in the world.
On Saturday evening, there is a Cumbrian Buffet in the Museum, which will be an excellent opportunity to discuss wooden boats and boatbuilding.
Museum staff will be leading tours of both Museum and the conservation workshops on Saturday and Sunday.
Weekend tickets include museum entry, all talks and tours cost £35 per person and the Saturday buffet is £35 per person.
