(ABOVE) The gates at the entrance to Webster’s Yard in Highgate.
The yard commemorates Kendal’s most famous architects, Francis and his son George, who designed a number of buildings in the town.
Francis began his working life in this yard in 1788, being responsible for the Monument on Castle Howe and the Friends Meeting House.
Thirty years later George joined him designing the Whitehall Assembly Rooms and The Bank of Westmorland.
