WHEN lonely singleton Margarita moved to a foreign country and downloaded the dating app Tinder, she never expected to find the man of her dreams just a few swipes away.
Valencia-born nurse Margarita Milla Arroyo came to the UK in August 2014 to carry out her dream of working for Doctors Without Borders.
Not long after, Marga moved to North Wales and began working in one of the hospitals.
As a single mum in a foreign country, Marga began to feel lonely and in Autumn 2019, she decided to make a Tinder profile, which is where she met her future husband James Drury.
She said: “When I first saw James, his profile was very attractive to me.
“I met James face to face and we went to watch ‘The Joker’ in the cinema.
“He was funny, caring, confident, handsome, tall, warm and just got me deeply instantly.
“We both knew we were meant to be together.”
When James met Marga’s daughter they ‘fell in love with each other straight away’, said Marga.
“The connection was so beautiful to see,” she added.
“Maia was only three, and James never had kids, but they became best friends.
“We built such a beautiful family together since then.”
James popped the all-important question on the couple’s first anniversary on October 18, 2020.
The pair planned their wedding for April 2021 but was forced to postpone to the following year due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The couple opted for an intimate wedding at the Cragwood Country House Hotel in Windermere, alongside their closest friends and family and daughter Maia.
“Many of our family and friends were not there,” said Marga.
“But we decided to do a small wedding as we are both very private people.
“We thought that saying our vows is showing our deep love, something you don’t do in front of many.
“Our loved ones know how important it was for us to make it such small celebration in terms of keeping it simple, romantic and affordable.”
The couple finally said ‘I do’ on April 18 and enjoyed an open ceremony in the gazebo of the hotel.
Marga said: “We have been extremely lucky and the weather was stunning. We managed to have an open ceremony in the gazebo of the hotel.
“It was perfect for us.”
The couple is enjoying a roadtrip around Scotland for their honeymoon, travelling to Edinburgh, the Highlands, Oban, the Isle of Mull and finally the Lake District.
