Nine swimmers from Ulverston made the trip to Liverpool having achieved the qualifying times required in order to compete in the North West Regional Championships.
The team had found a remarkable amount of success, reaching finals in various events on eleven occasions.
Indya Sharp showed herself to be in a class of her own once again, especially at Breaststroke where she always shows total commitment, loads of aggression and a superb stroke pattern.
She struck early in the first session taking on the 50m where she got in the mix with Liverpool and Blackpool swimmers. In a final burst she hit the pads in 34.36 to take 3rd place as well as that place in the final.
This time she really turned up the screws and stroke for stroke got better and better. Into the pressure zone and she drew on all her reserves and blasted her way into 2nd place and a silver medal. She then gave a similar performance in the 100 Breast stroke and battled it out with the leaders in the heats.
Matching the pace, she set a time of 1:17.20 taking 4th place and qualifying for another final. Here she called again on all her talent and experience and at the first 50 three swimmers matched each other.
The final length was a classic and in a storming finish Sharp was just touched out into silver place again. She also went on to reach the final of the 50 Backstroke and settled for an impressive 8th place. Ethan Alpress also gave an impressive performance and his 100 Backstroke effort put him amongst the best in the Region. Off to a powerful start in his heat he settled into his rhythm and was in a position to bid for success.
The pace had been raised and Alpress surged through into 4th place and the final in 1:04.97.
The final produced another fabulous event with Alpress working hard and came out of his turn well placed. Another injection of pace moved him up a level and in another storming finish hit the pads in 3rd place in 1:03.93 to snatch the bronze medal. He also added satisfactory results in three other events over the weekend. The talented all-rounder Jamie Leigh Tyson had a fair degree of success reaching three finals out of her five events.
Her 100 Freestyle was brilliant, where she came 3rd in her heat, but just got pushed out into 4th place in the final despite lowering her time to 1:01.34.
She had similar luck with her 200 Freestyle, taking another 4th place and followed this up with an 8th place in the 50 Butterfly final. Amelia Mardel kept up the momentum taking 5th place in the 100 Freestyle final and a 6th in the 200 Freestyle.
Still working hard and supporting each other both Lilly Smith and Millie Webber reached finals.
Smith with her elegant stroke pattern and power surged into 6th place at 200 Backstroke whilst Webber produced a superb effort to land 8th place at 50 Butterfly.
Completing a fantastic effort from the squad Benson Cowsill, Orianne Sharp and Poppy Tyson all gave performances to be proud of and proved a credit to the club.
