A COLOURFUL event will return to Kendal for its sixth year to raise money for a palliative care charity.

St John’s Hospice’s Colour Dash will return to the town on April 24.

Popular with families, friends, young and old, the Colour Dash is a 5k fun run that takes runners, joggers and walkers around the fields at Kirkbie Kendal School, past the castle and along the canal, with exciting colour stations along the way which paint the participants all the colours of the rainbow.

The special paint powder is non-toxic, and safe for people and the environment, according to St John’s Hospice.

On the day there will be music from DJ Mark Wenlock and Kendal’s own Drum Nation, a warm-up led by a team from Kendal Leisure Centre, followed by the run which will end with refreshments.

The Westmorland Gazette:

Annabelle Holloway, fundraising executive at St John’s Hospice, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing the Kendal Colour Dash back this year. This is one of the biggest events in the South Lakes calendar, and we hope to bring some fun and some colour to everyone this April!

“St John’s Hospice loves holding events in the South Lakes - it's an opportunity to chat with new and familiar faces.

“Many people don’t know that St John’s Hospice is the local hospice for people in Kendal, Windermere, Grasmere and Sedbergh – and we provide specialist palliative care not only on our in-patient ward, but also in people’s homes all across this area.

“Many more do come and talk to us about the care their loved ones have received from St John’s, and we want the South Lakes community to know we are there for them and their loved ones.”
