POLICE appeal for witnesses to serious road traffic collision on A591 road between a car and motorbike.
Police, Ambulance and two air ambulances attended the scene that took place at 1.20pm on March 25 at Wythburn Steel End junction at Thirlmere.
Two people were injured in the incident which involved a black Vauxhall Corse and a Kawasaki motorbike.
The rider and pillion passenger on the motorbike were taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries.
Emergency services had to close the road while the situation was dealt with, and a forensic collision examination team were dispatched to the scene.
The motorway was blocked in both directions and road users were delayed for several hours.
The collision also led to several services being cancelled by Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire between Grasmere and Keswick.
Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or who may have been driving between Grasmere and Thirlmere with dashcam footage capturing the incident.
