A BESOTTED couple enjoyed a cheese and pork pie wedding cake for their big day in front of their nearest and dearest.
Allison charters, 52, and Lee Hudson, 53, tied the knot at The Villa in Levens in February in front of 60 guests.
The couple first met on September 6 2018 on a blind date set up by the groom’s brother and partner.
“We just connected straight away,” said Mrs Hudson, who is originally from Belfast but has been living in Barrow for the past 30 years.
“He’s laid back and reserved and I’m bubbly, so we complement each other.
“I’ve brought him out of his shell which is lovely to see.”
Mr Hudson, who works as a builder in Barnsley, got engaged in April 2019 during lockdown.
“We got engaged on April 26 2019,” said Mrs Hudson, who runs the sweet buffet hire business, Lovable Lane.
“Due to Covid we couldn’t travel to see each other so we FaceTimed multiple times a day and he proposed over FaceTime which was such a massive shock to me.”
The pair said ‘I do’ at The Villa at Levens on February 26 2022 in front of 60 guests through the day and a further 20 at night.
“It was a perfect day from start to finish,” said Mrs Hudson, who also works as a part-time cleaner at Maritime Apartments.
“It was sunny but cool. Lee said his highlight was seeing me for the first time walking down the aisle which was the first time I’d ever seen a tear in his eye.
“The highlights for me were marrying the love of my life and my best friend.
“My eldest 13-year-old son Tyler walked me down the aisle and my daughter Sheree and son-in-law Jason gave me a beautiful photo charm to go on my bouquet of my best friend who recently passed away.
“Our wedding cake was made of cheese and pork pies as me and Lee are more savoury than sweet people.
“The cake stand was specially made by one of my bridesmaids Elisabeth who is also part owner of Lovable Lane with me and my daughter Sheree.
“Stand out moments for us was how amazing our friends and family are to have travelled from Ireland, Barnsley, Scotland and Barrow to spend our day with us.
“It wouldn’t have been the same without them all. “
The newlyweds enjoyed a minimoon in the UK for a week and are planning a honeymoon abroad this June.
