ULVERSTON swimmers have been praised for their performances at the Kendal open gala.
28 swimmers won a grand total of 81 medals between them and each athlete put on an incredible performance.
Such was their standard that 15 of the contestants collected 28 gold medals.
A fantastic result for the Club. The Senior Girls in particular Indya Sharp, Lily Smith, Amelia Mardel, Jamie Leigh Tyson, Orianne Sharp and Olivia Penellum were all in dazzling form and on three occasions reigned supreme lifting Gold, Silver, and Bronze at 50m Butterfly, Freestyle and Breaststroke.
Time and again the swimmers put in outstanding performances but that of Jamie Leigh Tyson was in a class of her own. Over the two days she swam in events ranging from 50m Individual strokes to 400 Individual Medley events.
In the process she cruised to a comfortable victory at 200 Freestyle but had to work hard to hold off challenges at 200 Backstroke, then her 100 Individual Medley resulted in a real contest with team mate Smith matching ach another stroke for stroke.
They surged forward over the pressure zone and a storming finish brought Tyson a narrow win. Far from finished she went on to add 4 Silver and a Bronze to her collection.
Making a start to his career 9yr old Kayden Smith produced some spectacular performances to come up with 6 Gold medals ad a Silver.
At Freestyle he dominated the races in both 50m, 100m and 200m and he showed extreme courage refusing to panic in the all-round 100 Individual Medley to take a fine win.
Top gun Gyoktug Molla added more to his earlier successes with more Gold when calling upon his ability at longer distance swims setting the pace and his rhythm to surge ahead for wins at 200 Freestyle and Butterfly.
Taking on the gruelling 400 Individual Medley he showed too much skill for his opponents to take the win with a fair degree of ease.
A crop of double gold swimmers followed. Sharp added Gold for her 200 Breaststroke, Smith did the same for her 200 Butterfly, whilst Rose Yearnshire, 100m and 200m Breaststroke, together with Marley Griffiths, 200m Freestyle and 200m Backstroke kept up the momentum.
Three of the boys Fergus Bell, Brodie Scales and Ethan Alpress all won Gold but then Bell’s luck ran out and he settled for 5 Silver medals. Scales had similar results with Silver for Butterfly and Freestyle, followed by Alpress with Silver for 100 and 200 Individual Medleys.
Another fine effort from Orianne Sharp saw her add a Silver and Bronze to her score.
Backstroke ace Phillipa Robinson used all her talent to take gold for 200m and Bronze for 100m. Another specialist Penelope Boyle gave an all-round faultless swim to claim Gold for her 400m Individual Medley.
The list of Golds became complete with fine wins for Millie Webber for her 100m butterfly and Jay Mulama who rapidly got into his stroke pattern and held it together for 200m Breaststroke and then added a Bronze for 100m Backstroke.
Other minor place medals were shared by 13 of the other swimmers to leave the team in high spirits.
