A HOME Instead South Lakes CAREGiver has been praised for her deliverance of ‘outstanding’ care.
Wendy Lee Griffin has worked for the Kendal based company since August 2020 and has recently received a diploma in reflexology.
Her career has seen her deliver care to many clients and she has advanced her qualifications in reflexology which has earned her praised by the company.
Originally from Ingleton, Wendy has worked in a variety of other professions and backgrounds before venturing into the care industry.
Drawing on her past experience, her studies in reflexology and her attitude to care have added greatly toward her performance.
Wendy said: “When I looked around for a company, I felt that I wanted to join a company that would offer the best standard of care, and Home Instead was it.
“They were the one I chose, and I am very thankful to be able to work with them.
“They took me on and I was able to take to it because I had previously looked after my dad before he passed away.
“I moved into holistic therapy and it all worked together really well.
“I began working for Home Instead in August 2020 when we were in the pandemic. I was unemployed at the time as I had been made redundant the year before.
“I decided to follow my heart and go into holistic therapy. By the time I was qualified the pandemic had put us in lockdown so I still had no job.
“I had a background in other work, from PR, marketing, IT, office work and working in a pub.
“No one was recruiting at the time but I knew I could work in care.
“I do the personal care, end of life care, companionship and a whole host of other types of care.
“We are all individuals in this job so we can all be who we are. Having a holistic therapy background, I can offer people relaxation and help them with anxiety and stresses.
“It’s good to be able to work on your feet.
“My last work saw me co-ordinating in the chamber of trade in Skipton, I was the co-ordinator for business awards for another company, I worked for a charity, ran a pub, done all sorts.
“I’m finally doing what I love.
“I got my diploma this year. I passed on January 27. This year it took longer than usual, because normally this takes a year to complete but due to Covid it lasted two years.
“We have to wait on case studies to qualify and write about, but that took longer due to the pandemic.
“It’s very humbling the whole thing and I want to keep doing this job for as many people as I can.”
