Drivers in and around South Lakeland will have six National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing a holdup of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M6, from 9pm September 27 2021 to 6am February 23 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6, junction 34 to 35 northbound and southbound, lane and full closures for Bridge joint replacement works.

• M6, from 4am February 7 to 3.30pm March 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 35 to junction 36, Lane one closures for ditch clearance, verge maintenance and drainage investigation work.

• A590, from 8pm September 4 2021 to 6am July 30 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Swarthmoor, Convoy working for Construction of new four arm roundabout to replace the current staggered junction.

And a further three closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A590, from 8am February 21 to 11pm February 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 Newby bridge, Some carriageway incursion for SU works (BT).

• M6, from 8am February 28 to 5am March 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 38 to 37, Lane one closure and junction 37 exit and entry slip road closure for Road Marking and Stud Renewal.

• A590, from 8pm March 7 to 8pm March 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A590 eastbound and westbound, Newby bridge to Backbarrow, Lane two closure westbound and traffic signals for horticultural works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
