A JETTY at a South Lakeland hotel is to be reinstated for the first time in 30 years after plans were given the green light by the district council.
The site, which is 275m from The Samling Hotel, situated between Troutbeck Bridge and Ambleside, was damaged by a storm in 1992 and has not been repaired since.
The jetty plans, which were approved by the Lake District National Park Authority in April 2021, were scrutinised by South Lakeland District Council's (SLDC's) lake administration committee on Friday.
The new, timber jetty is to be around 6.6m long and has been proposed by The Samling Hotel with the intention of giving guests a 'means of sustainable transport during their stay'. Dredging to allow boats to berth is also to take place.
Cllr Philip Dixon, SLDC portfolio holder for customer and locality services, asked if the county council's highways team had commented on the application, particularly as the new jetty is to be situated off the A591.
Frankie Flannigan, SLDC service delivery manager, said: "Consent has been given by the national park and they take all those matters into account."
The lake administration committee voted to delegate authority to SLDC's director of customer and commercial services to grant permission for the reinstatement of the jetty and the carrying out of dredging.
