Two South Lakes businesses came together to raise funds for Carer Support South Lakes and Furness Homeless Support.
Shed 1 Distillery and The Create Escape held an evening of gin-tasting and food demonstrations to raise money for these very worthy causes.
The attendees were welcomed to Shed 1 Distillery in Ulverston by co-owner, Zoe Arnold-Bennett.
Enjoying a complimentary gin and tonic, they were treated to a distillery tour before settling in for an entertaining cookery demonstration by Angela and Debs of The Create Escape.
The cooking duo created three dishes dishes, all using products from Shed 1’s range of gins and elixirs. Tasters of each dish were enjoyed alongside a sample of each of the gins used and the response was ‘absolutely gin-tastic’ according to the businesses.
Afterwards Debi Marsden, COO of Carer Support South Lakes, gave an overview of the important work the charity does in the community and Ms Bennett shared insights into the work done by Furness Homeless Support.
A total of £600 was raised from ticket sales, a raffle and a percentage of gin sales, which has been split between the two charities.
“We want to thank everyone who turned out on a cold and dark evening to support the two wonderful charities,” said said Angela and Debs.
“From the feedback received, everyone had a great time, and their generosity was just brilliant.
“We hope to work again with Zoe and Andy at Shed 1 to hold more events in the future. A great evening out and supporting great causes is a win-win (or gin-win!).”
