A newly reopened Kendal pub built on hallowed ground is gearing up for its first of a series of ghostly events
Tony and Diane Leach, who have taken over the Ring O' Bells pub on Kirkland, Kendal, enjoyed a successful opening weekend after a long refurbishment process.
Tony said: "We've had a good weekend - we've still got some finishing off to do, but we've made sure everything's working.
"We've now got over 30 beer lines, some that you won't find anywhere else in town."
The Ring O' Bells is one of the only pubs in Britain built on consecrated ground, in the 1700s, and there have been many tales of supernatural happenings over the years, to such an extent that Tony and his friend Scott Dawson have organised a ghost hunt in the pub on 15th January, hosted by Spiritualist Medium Gordon Walsh.
Gordon hosted several overnight ghost hunts at Samlesbury Hall, near Preston, a 14th century stately home renowned for being one of the most haunted buildings in Britain.
Tony said: "We were over the moon that Gordon was available and agreed to it, as me and Scott have been to his events at Salmesbury Hall - he's a great guy, completely honest, and some scary stuff happened when we were there.
"From the reaction we've had, we'll certainly be organising more after this, as we're fully booked already."
Gordon explained his background and why he was looking forward to coming to Kendal:
"I've been talking to spirits from the age of 2, and brought up in a strong methodist faith.
"For the last 28 years I've been serving spiritualist churches throughout the
country, doing private readings and demonstrations for charity."Scott contacted me and told me there was activity downstairs in the cellar at the Ring O' Bells, and asked if I'd do an overnight for them like at Salmesbury.
"We'll be having a walk-round, and then see what we can pick up.
"We may use table-tilting or glass-moving to communicate, but it depends on the night when I get there, on the energies of the people.
"I am completely honest, and if I don't detect anything I'll say so - you can't predict the spirit world."
