KENDAL Town Council had to cancel their Christmas lights switch-on due to the adverse weather conditions.
Storm Arwen had torn through the streets this morning moving cross street signs as well as the 28ft Christmas tree in its anchor hole.
The lights were due to be switched on at 4.45pm alongside music from Stagecoach, Kendal Youth Zone, and Drum Nation.
Town mayor Cllr Doug Rathbone said: "It is such a disappointment after last year's Covd-hit low key affair, but public safety is our paramount concern."
