ULVERSTON swimmers made the short journey to Barrow to compete in an Open Gala.
The competitors came away with some astonishing results after winning sixteen of them sharing 32 Gold medals between them.
Heading the list was 13-year-old Olivia Penellum who proved a worthy winner of four events.
Setting her standard at 100 Butterfly she took it on and set a devastating pace.
She then forged ahead and drove to a perfect finish. She then followed up with a super all-round display in the 100 Individual Medley, holding off spirited challenges by club mate Millie Webber. She then completed a hat trick with her most outstanding swim at 100 Backstroke.
Taking an early lead, she just got better and better with her delightful stroke pattern and immaculate turns and then timed her winning finish to perfection.
Olivia then completed her day with a performance to be proud of in the 100 Freestyle.
A real battle developed and it was a powerful burst in the final length that got her in front doing just enough to take Gold in a blanket finish.
Keeping up the squads’ standards, there followed brilliant efforts from Gyoktug Molla, Millie Webber, Orianna Sharp and Felicity Boyle, all of whom collected a trio of Golds for their efforts.
Molla displayed superb power and strength at sprinting.
The 50 Backstroke and 50 Freestyle were classics and he stormed through the pressure zone winning both in a blanket finish.
He went on to take the 50 Freestyle title with another brilliant swim and winning with the only time under a minute.
Webber gave similar displays and being a Breaststroke specialist took comfortable wins at both 50 and 100m. She then produced the swim of her life to snatch victory in the 50 Freestyle sprint.
Sharp also continued to show the form she displayed at Workington, by once again out pacing her rivals at both 50 and 100 Breaststroke.
Her power and superb technique then enabled her to take a brilliant win in the 50 Butterfly sprint.
15-year-old Felicity Boyle took on the 50 and 100 Freestyle and had to call on all her experience to overcome her challengers.
Launching devastating attacks, she moved up a gear to find that little extra that produced split second wins for her.
Her win at 50 Butterfly proved a little easier as she led the way to a comfortable finish. Further success went to double gold winners Lily Smith, Fergus Bell, Jamie Leigh Tyson, Poppy Tyson, and Reuben Eley.
Smith got great results from her 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke winning both events in style.
Similar success fell to Bell who held off rivals to record wins at 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. Jamie Leigh Tyson shone at 50 Backstroke and 100 Individual Medley, whilst Poppy Tyson reigned supreme at 50 and 100 Freestyle. The boys then had 11yr old Reuben Eley emerging victorious at 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke.
A final flourish brought top honours to Jay Mulama –100 Butterfly, Nathan Caine – 100 Butterfly, Abigail Caine – 100 Backstroke, Kaden Smith – 100 Backstroke, Amelia Mardel – 50 Breaststroke and William Maiden – 100 Freestyle to complete an outstanding meet for the club.
