THE results of district and town council elections for Kendal have been announced.
Yesterday's vote was triggered after the resignation of Liberal Democrat Jon Owen (now a member of the Green Party) earlier in the year left a vacancy in the Kendal North ward of South Lakeland District Council and the Strickland ward of Kendal Town Council.
The Liberal Democrats have won both seats - Jonathan Cornthwaite in the district council election, and Phil Walker in the town council vote.
The full results were as follows:
District council:
- Jonathan Cornthwaite, Liberal Democrats, 622 votes
- Liz Hendry, Green, 527 votes
- Aron Taylor, Conservative, 122 votes
- Virginia Branney, Labour, 54 votes
Town council:
- Phil Walker, Liberal Democrats, 647 votes
- Liz Hendry, Green, 511 votes
- Aron Taylor, Conservative, 115 votes
- Jo Magne, Labour, 60 votes
