A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital after being 'trampled by cows'.
The 45-year-old suffered the injuries between Clapham and Austwick on Tuesday.
The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) was called by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to the incident off Thwaite Lane at 11.20am. Rescuers were told the casualty had reportedly been 'trampled by cows'.
A CRO spokesman said: "When the first team members arrived, they found two road ambulances and an air ambulance already on scene, with the paramedics assessing the patient’s injuries and giving her pain relief.
"While the rest of the team stood down, those on scene waited, then assisted with loading the patient into the helicopter."
