A COMPANY has revealed when work on a major development in Oxenholme will be completed.
Housing 21, a not for profit provider of extra care and retirement living for older people of ‘modest means’, is opening Castlestead View, its brand new extra care development in the village, in summer 2022.
The new development will offer independent living with access to a range of flexible on-site care and support options when residents need it.
The age for Castlestead View is 65 plus, however residents can qualify between the ages of 55 and 64 if they have a care and support need, according to the company.
There is a broad selection of properties available, including 80 one and two bedroom apartments for rent and shared ownership, and 24 two bedroom bungalows for outright sale.
In previous publicity material, Housing 21 said that extra care housing is a model that combines purpose-built and ergonomically designed housing for older people with on-site flexible care that adapts to residents’ changing needs.
And that it offers a way of supporting residents to live independently for as long as possible.
On site there will also be a café/bistro and hair salon for use by residents and the community.
Additionally there will be a residents lounge, activity room, buggy store, guest suite and communal gardens for residents and their guests.
The development has long been in the works, with the company holding a public consultation meeting with residents in 2017, prior to submitting its planning application for the build.
