"FINGERS crossed it won't be something more serious next time."
That was the comment made by a short-staffed North Yorkshire fire station following an oil spill.
"Thankfully just oil on a road today," said a spokesman for Bentham Fire Station on Friday.
"Bentham was unavailable all day today due to a lack of crew."
Hawes Fire Station attended the incident in Nutgill Lane, near Ingleton, at around 3.20pm.
Crews washed away the oil using one hose reel jet and left the incident in the hands of police and Highways England.
The team at Bentham Fire Station is seeking new recruits. Members of the public can register their interest here.
