Noise and parking concerns have been raised during a rugby club's plans to allow seasonal camping on its site.
Kendal Rugby Club submitted plans to South Lakeland District Council, for seasonal camping on its grounds, in order to diversify its income, between May 1 and October 1. However the plans have had to be revised down - to only allow a shorter season for camping.
A spokesman for Kendal Rugby Club said. “We have done camping with guidelines in place. “Everything is well maintained and facilities are ideal.
"For security, people can’t just get in and out of the clubhouse without a fob.
“There will be the same access rules that members use and campers can have a meal and use the bar and takeaway hatch after hours.
“The campers will have to pay a £5 deposit to allow access to the toilets at night.
"The rest of the building will be locked.
"No spotlights will be used under any circumstances."
Nearby Hunters Croft resident John Whitfield had his own concerns ahead of the meeting He said: "I am concerned regarding the noise that will be generated at night from the campsite.
"The croft has many families with small children who would suffer disturbance from late night noise.
"A stipulation needs to be made that there is no noise after 10pm.
"Parking maybe an issue should the site become very busy.
"There have been issues in the past with unwanted parking in the croft, by people attending the rugby club."
The proposals were discussed by Kendal Town Council's planning committee prior to going to SLDC for final approval.
South Lakeland District Council approved the pop up campsite on the condition that camping season being proposed will end earlier than planned and finish on August 31, instead of October 1.
