GREAT Britain’s women’s hockey team-including Kirkby Lonsdale’s Fiona Crackles- fought off Spain to reach the Olympic semi-finals.
Maddie Hinch was the shoot-out hero again as Great Britain kept alive their hopes of retaining their women's Olympic hockey title by dramatically edging out Spain on penalties.
Britain went ahead in each half of the quarter-final through Hannah Martin and Grace Balsdon respectively but were pegged back on each occasion in a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
Hinch, who excelled in Britain's shoot-out victory over Holland in the final of Rio 2016, came to the fore once again, saving all of Spain's attempts, with Martin and Sarah Jones scoring for Team GB.
Britain face Holland in Wednesday's semi-final.
