AS the wet weather threatens to dampen spirits this weekend The Mail has created a list of 10 indoor activities that could keep you busy in south Cumbria.
1. The world of Beatrix Potter - This attraction allows people to see some of her most famous characters brought to life in 3D. Visitors can take a walk around Mr McGregor's kitchen garden and indulge in some delicious treats at the tearoom and buy some souvenirs from the gift shop.
2. Hill Top, Beatrix Potters home - Stop and see where one of Cumbria's most famous residents lived and created her amazing characters. Beatrix Potter's former home is run by the national trust and offers tourists the chance to see inside her most beloved place.
3. Lakes Aquarium - Located at Lakeside, Newby bridge. The aquirium allows visitors to go on an under water exploration. It features the largest collection of freshwater fish in the UK and is easily accessible by car, you can even travel by boat from Bowness or Ambleside or if you're sea sick you can catch a steam train with the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.
4. Little Subs play and bounce in Barrow - This is a perfect way to keep your children entertained over the weekend. They have play equipment and bouncy castles suitable for children between 0-10 years old. The site hosts baby play and toddler areas, climbing frames, slides and bouncy castles, parents can also chill out and relax close by while watching their children play.
5. Wray Castle - With it's gothic architecture Wray Castles sits peacefully on the shores of Lake Windemere with turrets, towers and informal grounds. The castle is perfect for a rainy day and offers rooms for creative play, dressing up and arts and crafts.
6. Windermere Jetty Museum - The museum opened back in 2019 after a major refurbishment of the site which was previously home to the steamboat museum on the eastern shore of Windermere. The museum houses 40 boats covering the history of sailing in Windermere from the 18th century. 7. The Enchanted Chocolate mine - The mine is a small visitor attraction located beneath the chocolate shop in Kirby Lonsdale. The attraction is aimed at children and people who are young at heart, who are fascinated about chocolate and how it is made.
8. Blackwell historical house, Bowness - The house designed by M H Bailie-Scott was completed in 1900 and was a favourite county retreat for a wealthy industrialist from Manchester. The house hosts period rooms and exhibition galleries and is perfect for anyone who wants to know how wealthy people lived in 1900's Britain. 9. The Forum theatre - The venue has a packed schedule and a fab coffee shop.
10. Wordsworth Grasmere - Tour Dove cottage, the home of William Wordsworth, and see where he wrote many of his famous poems.
