PLANS have been submitted to extend a major Kendal golf club.
Carus Green golf club says it wants to expand its driving range to maintain its image.
Proposals submitted to South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) reveals the club wants to increase the size of its range by 50 percent.
“The existing 18-bay driving range is a very popular and well-used facility at Carus Green Golf Club," said bosses in their submission.
“Expanding membership combined with more frequent individual personal usage has resulted in a want of capacity to satisfy demand.
“It needs to expand to maintain the club’s image as a progressive and dynamic entity.
“The driving range is fundamentally important for tuition and training and is a founding element in the golf club’s success. Its contribution to the club’s wellbeing is considerable, as it is ordinarily the first point of contact for new members.”
Councillors will hear details ranging from parking to flood risk, biodiversity and residential amenity before making their decision.
