MULTIPLE fire crews battled a barn blaze in Appleby on Tuesday morning.
On arrival firefighters discovered a ‘well-developed’ barn fire and spent around ten hours extinguishing the flames alongside crews from Shap, Penrith and Sedbergh.
Luckily, no one was hurt according to Appleby fire station.
A station spokesman said online: “Appleby crew were mobilised to reports of a domestic house fire with persons reported, on arrival the crew found a well-developed barn fire.
“Appleby dispatched one pump and our wildfire Unimog due to its water carrying capacity.
“Our colleagues from Shap, Penrith, Sedbergh, a water bowser and Joint Incident Command Unit were also in attendance.
“This was a protracted incident but luckily no one was hurt, and all animals are safe.”
