A 'GRENADE' was destroyed after being discovered during a house clearance in the Lake District.
The item - which police were told was a Turkish WW1 grenade - was located in the Newby Bridge area.
This Turkish WW1 grenade (at least that’s what we were told it was) was located during a house clearance. @11_EOD_Regiment couldn’t confirm it inert, so safe destruction the only option. Nice night for it though. Log 154 pic.twitter.com/kSUvcc0WY9

The army's bomb disposal experts were unable to confirm it was inert. 'Safe destruction' therefore took place.
