A COUNCIL has encouraged people to join with its clean-up campaign after it shared a picture of the remnants of a birthday cake at a children’s play area.
South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) shared the image on social media which showed a cake box, plastic forks and candles strewn across the playground’s floor.
The council recently announced its Clean Up South Lakeland Campaign, where people can get involved to help keep the area tidy.
The campaign is in support of the nationwide campaign Great British Spring Clean.
SLDC’s social media post read: “An outdoor birthday celebration complete with chocolate cake sounds like fun but nobody wants to see sights like this littering our play areas.
“If you care about keeping your neighbourhood clean and tidy, we'd love you to join our Clean Up South Lakeland campaign!”
