A TRIO of local musicians have been scheduled to play in the all-star line-up at the Leeds and Reading festival this year.

The group LOWES have been confirmed to play at the 2021 festival, which will take place on the August bank holiday weekend.

The band, consisting of Evie Plumb, 26, who is from Kendal, Jamie Walker, 33, and Luke Paget, 34, who are both from Lancaster.

The group will be performing along such figures as Stormzy, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Liam Gallagher, Post Malone, Disclosure, Queens of the Stone Age, Two Door Cinema Club and DaBaby.

Many of the acts were scheduled to appear at the cancelled 2020 festival.

Evie has been playing piano and singing since the age of six and is a very well recognised musician in Cumbria.

Jamie and Luke have been playing music since they were teenagers, having been in The Feud previously which toured Europe and North America.

The three musicians have released a number of tracks over the past year in collaboration with some of dance music’s biggest names including CamelPhat, High Contrast, Franky Wah, and Sub Focus.

Many of these tracks have made it onto Radio 1’s A-List, and amassed millions of streams online.

Their successful caught the attention of the programmers at the world’s oldest popular music festival, and LOWES have been booked to perform on the Dance Stage.

With a combined attendance of 180,000 people, this year’s sold-out event will also play host to hundreds of the best acts from around the country.

LOWES will be performing a hybrid mix of their collaborative dance records, as well as their own original material with a six-piece band.

The band released a statement regarding their plans to play at the festival.

They stated: “We have always dreamed of playing at Leeds and Reading Festival, having attended as teenagers.

“We’ve watched some of our favourite bands perform there over the years, so to be involved in this way is a huge honour.

“We are going to be putting everything we’ve got into making our performance as impactful, memorable, and exciting as possible.”

In 2017, LOWES signed with Sony Records and saw their first EP release in 2018.

They have experimented with various genres and styles of music, writing, production methods, and working to create a varied catalogue of songs for themselves and other artists.

The festival is scheduled to take place on on August 27 to 29, 2021.
