The A593 at Rothay Bridge, Ambleside, has now reopened after it was closed in both directions for emergency repairs.
Repairs from the A593 Under Loughrigg to A5075 Borrans Road are now complete, according to police.
As a result of the closure Stagecoach implemented an emergency bus timetable.
A Stagecoach spokesman said: “Due to emergency roadworks at Rothay Bridge, the 505 and 516 services are operating an emergency timetable.
“There will be severe disruption to these routes."
Stagecoach's 505 service from Kendal to Coniston and 516 from Kendal to Dungeon Ghyll will travel via an alternative route.
And according to the operator's website: “The two services will be combined for the duration of the closure, operating via Windermere and Newby Bridge en route to Hawkshead, Coniston and Dungeon Ghyll.”
