Cartmel Priory has received a massive financial boost.
Just under £70,000 has been sent to the priory from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Grade 1 listed church has lost income because of fewer visitors.
This has been felt across South Cumbria as well.
The Culture Recovery Fund is a £1.57 billion fund.
It was set up in July by the Department for Digital, Culture Media and Sport.
£880 million is allocated as grants, whereas £270 million is assigned to repayable finance.
